Design Pains

Well, since I've taken the time to come back online, I figured I'd also take the time to update my template design. Since I'm also suffereing from a mild case of creative block I set out to search for one made by someone else.

Instead of going through Raging Pistachio woman again, who was the designer of that last pink flower wreckage, I went to see what was out there. I chose that last design in about 3 minutes time, and only because I needed something NOW because I was going offline for a bit. Yeah, yeah I know, this has pink flowers too, so sue me. You wouldn't believe the trainwreck designs floating around lately. To be honest with you I first tried one from Lex designs, it had my sexy little scottish hobbit, Pippin on it. It didn't work. Mainly because the images weren't working, not on her free image hosting job, or on MY OWN SERVER EVEN. I doubt this is her fault, but it still annoyed me enough to try a different site. Then I went to Crave Designs I think it's called. Found a dark dismal one, this time the coding for the links sucked vast amounts of ass and I think that when this person put the coding into their little code boxes, they forgot to make it look like the actual design did because they were bright blue and underlined, not at all like the actual design. So I gave up that quest for darkness long enough to consider moving this diary to diary X. This design I'm now using is from not that ugly designs, and believe me it was a serious PAIN IN THE ASS to install.

First of all, I think those designers that use the quick html installer for these designs is not only lazy, but is contributing to the laziness of the people using these templates. After all, Diaryland comes equipped with built in templates for those who have no basic html knowledge, and if you use those little text boxes in your designs, Raging Pistachio woman is famous for these, then it's not thta hard to copy and paste code into the boxes on diaryland designed for such purposes. When my site is up and running I refuse to stoop to laziness to get people to take my templates. That's right I'm calling my template maker lazy....why? Because everyone knows my A.D.D. concerning journal templates and how easily I get bored. It won't stick long, and I know it. I will also take this time, since I'm feeling like being in a generally shitty mood, to say how much I dislike Raging Pistachio woman's site. I don't think it's so much her, as it is her attitude. And honestly, I haven't yet seen a template on her site I couldn't live without. She has her own style, and creativity, granted. But I have yet to determine why she's so popular. I've read her site from top to bottom, even before her redesign, and I know she's had some problems with design thieving, WHY?! There's nothing on there that's spectacular! Anyway, enough about this topic before I have an aneurysm.

I'm back for now, but I'm still considering moving to Diary-X.
